Basket Weaving

When Bob is not working at his “day job” as a hospital consultant he is the resident basket weaver at Yaqui Hideout and works on basket projects year ‘round.

He’s been weaving for over ten years and is a member of the Basket Artisans of Arizona. His passion for basketry includes years of selling basket / demonstrating basket weaving at arts and craft festivals throughout Arizona, teaching basket weaving and even participating in the 2019 International Wicker and Willow Festival competition in Poland.

He generally weaves with rattan reed he dyes himself, weaving baskets of his own design; although much of his weaving knowledge he has learned from great teachers like Flo Hoppe, Diane Stanton, Annetta Kreeyevald and Peeta Tinay. Future plans include cultivating willow on the grounds at Yaqui Hideout

If you have an interest in learning to weave baskets just ask Bob – he offers basket weaving classes if there is enough interest.….and you can often see him weaving a basket in his studio or somewhere on the grounds.
